Guide For Those Who Hate sPvP, Pt. IV
Guide For Those Who Hate sPvP, Part I Part II Part III

No, you're not going to find any useful builds or tactics here. There are way better people than me to ask and learn from when it comes to actually being good at sPvP. I'm just here to share 'How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Enjoy sPvP', for those who generally avoid it like the plague.

Come Out Swinging –

I can’t say much about actually getting good at sPvP, but as far as the experience goes, I think it’s all about the mindset going into the match. I don’t really know if it’s actually useful for anyone, but I find sPvP way more enjoyable when I go into it with an ’throw any and all caution to the wind’ attitude. I’ll just throw my character right into the fight and mash all the buttons and hope to get credit for a kill or two before I get stomped. Basically –

↑ Me getting ready for a match

↑ Me when I get repeatedly killed and/or lose the match

So, put on some music to get you pumped up (punk rock or EDM for me), and have at it. To quote a couple of songs by The Offspring (though completely out of context) when it comes to how I approach sPvP, "Don’t turn away, don’t turn away, come out swinging, come out alone – They’re in your way, they’re in your way, but as long as you’re swinging strong then you’ll get by" (Come Out Swinging), and "…That’s the real game that’s on – I don’t really give a sh*t who wins!" (One Fine Day).

"I do what I want, I do what I feel like" –

"...Don’t give a f*ck if it’s good enough for you." – (again, quoting another song by The Offspring). If you’re like me, just looking to get some dailies out of the way, get that one specific rank finisher (I’m going after the Dolyak rank), or perhaps start collecting dungeon gear (without having to run dungeons) and you don’t really care about being the best sPvPer ever, do whatever you damn well please. Sure, there are lots of sPvP builds people tend to insist on for being remotely competitive, but to me, it’s more important to play whatever class with whatever weapons and builds you’re most comfortable with.

I’m not saying not to use any of the meta sPvP builds at all; if you’re comfortable with using said builds, go right ahead! Whatever you end up doing, just get out there and have some fun~

Yours truly, by someone who’s avoided and hated sPvP forever but now plays it regularly.
